EVANGELIZATION MISSION IN SOUTH SUDAN
Lighting up the Boya hills
1. TRAVEL AND ARRIVAL TO BOYA HILLS

From left to right: Dr Stanislas Kabalira, Holondine N. Habimana and Fidele Niyonkuru.
Our team of GBEF missionaries, comprising Dr Stanislas Kabalira, Holondine N. Habimana and Fidele Niyonkuru, visited the Laarim tribe in South Sudan from 6 to 17 August 2024 to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

The missionary Noblesse Ruhumuliza was waiting for our missionaries at the Kimatong airfield to take them to his residence some 7 km away.
Boya Hills is a remote area, difficult to reach and with no access to telephone or internet. Our team of missionaries landed at Kimatong airfield in a small MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) aircraft.

From left to right: Stanislas Kabalira, Holondine Nyirahabimana, Tessa, David and Niyonkuru Fidèle.
Our missionaries met David (Canadian) and his wife Tessa (American from Washington State), a missionary couple working with Noblesse in the Laarim region. They live in Yéi, near the Kimatong airfield. They paid them a courtesy visit before going to Noblesse's residence in Chawa (about 5km from Yéi).
2. DONATION OF SMALL SOLAR LAMPS

GBEF sent a donation of solar lamps to the Laarim people. This aid was used to spread the Gospel. The traditional chief of the Laarim, the headmaster of the primary school (which no longer functions), the manager of the health center (which no longer functions) and the small number of members of the young church founded by the missionary Noblesse received lamps.
3. EVANGELISTIC MEETINGS AT DARKNIGHT

A crusade at nightfall in a Laarim village.
As August in the Laarim region is the season for protecting sorghum fields from birds, people are generally available for meetings in the evenings. The big evangelistic meetings were held in the village in the evenings and in the open air thanks to the solar lamps that GBEF had brought them.
4. EVANGELISTIC MEETING UNDER THE TREES

Under the trees, they announced the Gospel to small groups of men found resting and to young shepherds tending their cows.
5. SMALL EVANGELISTIC MEETINGS TAKING PLACE AT THE RESIDENCE

At their residence, our missionaries shared the Word of God with the people who came to listen to them.
In the mornings, our missionaries received a good number of people who came to listen to the word of God at the residence of missionary Noblesse. Most of them were new converts.
6. GOD OPENED THE HEARTS OF THE LAARIM TO THE GOSPEL

At the evening meetings, a good number of men and women gave their lives to Jesus Christ
God opened the heart of the Laarim to the Gospel, a big number of men and women gave their lives to Jesus.

From left to right: Rose (the seated old lady), Nateyoté, Nakayi (breast-feeding her baby), Rose (with her baby and daughter), Stanislas (GBEF), Dochi, Naghede (with her baby), Lothurae and Boutros. Behind the group, an old lady, Nakwami, who also gave her life to Christ
When one of our missionaries visited a family, the Holy Spirit opened their hearts so that all the family members present accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. An elderly woman, Nakwami, confessed that it was the first time she had heard the good news of Jesus Christ!
7. A CASE OF HEALING WAS RECORDED
Our missionaries prayed for the sick. One of the women who opened her heart and received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord, Nachichi Lino, was healed of an illness that tormented her and sometimes made her fall to the ground.
CONCLUSION AND PRAYER REQUESTS
The Bible says: “So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’’ (Luke 17:10). We thank God for having answered our prayers and for having enabled us to carry out the mission of evangelization in South Sudan. May God bless all those who have contributed to the accomplishment of this mission, whether through their prayers and/or their generous financial contributions
We encourage every born-again Christian and every evangelical church to become more involved in fulfilling the Great Commission: “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28 :18-20).
Our prayer is that God sends true laborers, for they are few in number but the harvest is plentiful.
